Default can I remove the impact foam behind my front bumper?

Im putting a new front bumper on right now and I dont like how the foam looks behind the holes in the front of my bumper. I wanna rip the whole foam out but Im worried about the bumper sagging? will I have any problems if I take it out? or should I just cut the sides off and leave the piece in the middle?

I would just take a hack saw and cut the visible material. The reason I am saying that is cause the heat will cause the bumper to sag over time, so cut what you can see.

That's also a good place to route brake cooling ducts, cold air scoops, etc.

Post pics of said bumper. Maybe fiberglass the edges of the bumper a thin strip like 7-8 layers and it would hold its own shape and then you could leave it off. But you would need to kind of spiderweb it and you would lose a huge chunk of flexibility.

Leave the foam. Believe it or not it actually provides a very important role of dampening an impact when in a front end collision allowing your vehicles crush zones to collapse properly. Like it said in a previous post cut out the area you can see. or do what I did......

Well that's you. Maybe the o.p. values his life a little more than you do.

I wouldn't take the foam out. I did just like cvalliere did and trimmed the foam behind the holes only, and panted everything behind the bumper black (actually yanked the headlights and stuff, didn't just paint through the holes). Looks a lot better imo.

I would either cut out the opening area or what about putting mesh/screen in the openings to cover the foam? When mine was replaced the shop painted the foam black so it would blend better. Not the best pic but...

you better watch it calling people out on stuff like that when you know they dont have any proof, they could get butt hurt...

answer: because "they" said so..

honestly, if its bad enough to cause harm to you, no foam in between your front bumper and the support is going to protect anything.. its something that all the pansies can bitch about....
people that care about being light/fast take that **** out..

of course this is just my .02..

Well first off I have 10yrs. of collision repair experiance, multiple certs. including State, I-CAR and ASE. Now let me make this clear, absorbers are not the SOLE thing protecting you in a crash. However, it is a vital part in the desgin of a vehicle manufactures' desgin of how the vehicle properly crushes when in a collison.

And I'm not getting butt hurt what so ever. If you wanna remove it so be it. I'm just stating facts. But having the knowlege I have I personally would not do so. If I had a strictly track car then I would remove it due to the fact that the cars structure would be reinforced more with the addition of a roll cage and ect.
