Question Steel Firebird fenders???

I have been looking for a DS fender and in my searching today, I found a steel replacement. I did not know they made steel fenders for the Birds. Has anyone used the steel replacements? How much heavier are they over the OEM? Is fitment spot on with AM fenders or should I stick with OEM?

Here is the fender in question:

Thanks guys!

are you sure they aren't calling the rear 1/4 panel a fender in that? IIRC only the rear 1/4's are steel.

definitely looks like a rear quarter panel if you study it for a while you'll see the subtle differances.

if you plug the mfr. part number into (15881407) gmpartsdirect.com it will return a front fender.

here's the link

Well from the looks of the pics, they are referring to the FRONT fenders.

I don't know, it looks to me like a Frt Fender, but then again it does say "actual product may vary" right across the pic.

i think that the fender on top is a front and the one on bottom is the rear.

I guess I am just going to call on Tuesday to find out the details. As for using A/M body panels, are there any issues with fitment. I know that is a loaded question since it really depends on the source, but I'm sure there are only a few making panels for the Birds in the first place.

why would you want steel panels? they are heavier and prone to rust.

I figured that in the event they got damaged, they would be easier to fix, but then again that is why I asked about the weight in my OP; if they are too heavy then **** it, lol.

A sheet metal fender would not be much heavier you wouldn't even notice it.
