Default Painting a billet grill?

I am going to paint the billet grill I just bought black. I was thinking. Possibly sanding the top finish with a 1200 grit sand paper. Then cleaning it with wax and grease remover and then priming and painting it.

no not yet. I've done it about 3 months ago. it still looks good. I don't drive the car much though, so i don't know how good it would hold up agaist road debris in the long run.

My car sits most of the time. I have only put 336 miles on it in 2 months.

scotch brite pad and a little wax and grease remover should do the trick! just make sure to wipe all of the wax and grease remover off right after you wipe it down. then prime and paint! Cant wait to see the pictures of it complete!

As I found out when I attempted to blast mine for paint, most are powdercoated and the powdercoating is tough! Just rough up the powdercoat with the scotchbrite, filler primer if you have chips or divets and sand smooth, then paint.

If you intend to paint the polished face of the grill, I'd use an etching primer or the paint will chip easily. You need something to bite into the metal.
