Default those who have had their car repainted completely!!!

What's the cost of having a car repainted completely black? Same color, just a whole new paint job? Looking to get my front end painted in the next couple of weeks and it looks to me like I would be better off getting the 10 year old paint redone. No dents, rust, or wrecked, just added a light weight hood and a new bumper. I know its hard to say with a lot of things that come in to play, but rought estimate.

We are actually painting mine right now. I can give you a for sure price next week. Looks like about $3500. Fiberglass hood, shaved the antenna, removed the side moldings and a few little dings here and there. About $500 in material.

I can get it done for 1500 and goes up fom there on what you want... aka wet sanding and reclear wetsand and buff... and depends a little on what clear you want to go with but around 1500..

However when I get mine painted I will jsut ahve to buy materials... so about 800 out the door with great clear and a wetsand and reclear and then a wetsand and buff...

I just dropped $3500 on mine, and that was a hook up. Quality materials is a big part of it. I'd say if you don't know anyone to give you a deal you should be planning on $3500 and up. You can get a paint job for as cheap as you want but its the labor that is put into giving you a quality finish that makes the price go up.

I'd say the range would be about $600 for a respray using single stage enamel, up to about $7500 should get you a perfect -better than factory job if it's not a color change.

I just color changed my car. Removed the doors, gutted them, all glass on the car, all moldings, all bumpers and fenders. It all got painted off the car and then installed

The only way you can tell it got color changed is if you crawl under it or remove interior panels, engine bay and front clip is fully painted.

I paid 2500, but that was a huge hookup. We used dupont chromabase and A LOT of clear, materials were right at 900 (included)

Expect 3500+ for something really nice. Do it right

thanks for the input. planning on doing some shopping in the next week and getting some quotes from some recommended shops around town. I just want it black again, but then again I was always a fan of silver.

At least 3500.. Some of these guys have the "hookup", but it all depends on the quality of job you want, materials you want to use, if you're color changing and want the engine bay, door jams, interior under the carpet, etc to match.. Everyone has their own opinion on what a "good" job is and what they'd be happy with..

Also keep in mind that even a **** Maaco job looks good in a picture on the forum. Someone will post up a picture of their $500 paint job, it'll get a whole page of "wow looks great" responses. Then you see it in person and think, "Who threw up all over this thing"?

Paint jobs are not black and white.... there's a whole lot of grey area in between.

$5,000-$7,000 paint jobs,,,,WTF.

If materials are about $900.00 for the goods.....how does anyone think they're worth $4,000 for 1 1/2 weeks of work?

Thats hilarious.
