Default Clear coat pealing @%&$@)$%*

Clear coat on my hood is pealing and bubbling. Any easy cheap fixes to make it at least look better for awhile. Just felt the need to vent

I'm guessing it's all base coat under the clear instead of clear from a repaint. If so not much you can do but remove it and repaint. If it is clear underneath that clear then it might sand and buff and look a little better

Do you wax your car? I have two '02 Camaros, one with 98k and one with 24k - even the higher mileage example still shines like glass.

Yes i wax. Just can't control the damage the previous owner did for the first 10yrs of its life.

Mines doing it too (94 camaro). Started in 2006-07, but the car has been in storage since then. Plan on repainting this summer hopefully.

I washed my car weekly or every 2 weeks. Waxed quarterly (Texas/Florida) heat.

Both of your car clear peeling problems appears to be either from being painted with bad/old base or clear, or whoever painted it waited to long to recoat. Depending on the brand of base that was used changes the recoat window and if you wait to long if will cause delamination

I'm not 100% sure, but i think my hood could have been resprayed. Should i try and wet sand it.

You could, but you run the risk of further damage. Without knowing the quality of workmanship--ex., clear coat--its risky business.

I would take it to a professional for a respray.

If it is clear under it you can sand and buff but in reality it will probably just make it flake off worse

if its isolated to the hood i would lean towards saying that its been resprayed.
i would get a professionals opinion on it but you might not have to do a full respray but it would be smart to just for looks sake.

i had a buddy with a similar problem on his door on his red strans am and he got the clear fixed and it didnt look bad so i suppose it just depends who does that work

Nope my hood just got a "spot" that looks whiteish and looks EXACTLY like the spots on my 91 C1500 RCSB. I waxed my truck at least 10 times a year. Didn't stop the entire clear coat from coming off. ENTIRE. The rest of my car looks great just that damn spot on the hood and I wax regularly. It appears to be growing as well

My spoiler on the car is doing the same. I'm the only owner and have kept up with it rather well over the years. I always just figured it was SLP's fault in some manner with cutting of corners. Just waiting to truly decide what color of grey it will be and then the whole car is going in anyway. Frustrating and ugly now, but will look GREAT in the future...
