What you've been told is correct.

What about cars that had body colored roofs?

I want to paint mine black but don't want it to bubble, obviously...

You have a 95, the problem didn't show up until late 98 / early 99 through 02.

Only 99-02 were affected. You'd be fine.

The issue was they changed the glue type in 99. The glue didn't react well and causes the oozing bubbles to appear. That's why a simple repaint doesn't work on a car with those issues, and requires a new roof panel to be put on.

93-98 used a different glue and didn't have those issues. My 98 has 151k miles on it, is not garaged (wish it was but I don't have one), and there are 0 bubbles on the roof.

Just found out about this TSB. Checked around and found out that it's no longer in production and finding and OEM piece is impossible. Are there any aftermarket companies that make these 4th gen roof panels?

There are '98s out there with this problem also. ...mine's one of them. My car was built June '98.

Only very late '98s were affected, cars built in May '98 or later are at risk for this problem.

March and eariler cars don't ever develop this problem. I can't make a solid statement on April because I haven't seen enough data yet.

All of this info is covered in the sticky at the top of this section.
