Default this is why Southern cars > Northern cars

So i looked at a 97 camaro for a friend of mine today. The car is only $2300 so i wasn't expecting a perfect undercarriage but it amazes me how different 2 similar cars with similar mileage can look like underneath.

1997 camaro 128k mi northern indiana car (i'm guessing)

my 1995 t/a with ~ 127k mi at the time the photos were taken last fall. My car was sold in hawaii, then was in north carolina, florida, arizona and now indiana but has never been driven in winter up here.

and yeah thats a brand new muffler on my car but i mainly am referring to the floorpan right by it.

My '98 has lived in Chicago for it's entire life. The undercarrige is in excellent, rust free condition. What's my secret? It's never been driven in rain or snow.

mine has been drove in the snow one time and the only reason i had to drive it in the snow was because i was workin for a construction company goin all over this side of the U.S and i would leave on sundays and get back on fridays and when i got back there was snow every where and i had to get home one way or the other so when i got home she got cleaned up from top to bottom and i didnt care how cold it was outside lol

Mines an Iowa car, and has very little surface rust anywhere uner the car except the exhaust (of course) and the fuel lines (again, just light surface rust) Just dont drive them in winter and keep em clean!

my undercarriage has no rust either

I wont buy a steal car farther than OK north. Arizona is the best place I have seen. No humidity or salted roads and it rains only on blue moons lol

I think it has to do more with how the car was taken care of.. Mine was purchased in Germany, but the owner took very good care of the car..It was all "mint" when I got it 3 years ago..

Alaska cars are just as bad. They used to salt the roads like crazy up here (years ago), but have stopped now. Still, I see some DD cars up here in the winter that make those "rusty" cars you guys posted look like they're in show room condition. It's the summer when all the nice ones come out...
