Default Painted my car!

First off i've never had a newbie thread but this can kinda be it. my names kyl im 20 from st louis area. I own a 99 bone stock z28 with the ugly body kit on it. Leather, flawless interior, A4 and 2.73 gears Picked it up for 5800$ with 84,000 miles on it. The mods i plan on doing to it untill i find a nicer DD is 3.73 gears, 3600 stall, LT's and exhaust, tuned and a 150 shot. I dont wanna get to crazy with it as of now.

Someone decided to key my car (no idea who did it, only pissed off ex lives in new mexico now..) which already had good paint on it so me and my father decided to paint the car. We've never painted a car or anything but he's been painting and spraying for over 20 years (kind of the same..right? ha) and we both have some experience using a spray gun and just doing minor body work. so why not give it a shot? its not a clean one owner anyways. Its been in a accident so im not looking for a show car... Here's some pics from the way the car started to what it is now.

Most are cell phone pics (nice cell phone..kinda) , but the first pics of how the car originally looked and the last pics of it now are with a camera. I have some pics of the key marks but i have to find them. Basically every panel was hit besdies the deck lid and bumper covers.

The color of the car first was the factory camaro bright red and now the color we chose was kinda tweaked to the victory red on the c6 corvettes.

now to painting it..

fiberglassed all the ground FX and spoiler holes

just paint no clear coat yet

cleared.

done, just needs to be wetsanded and buffed out.

there orange peel was all over the car but it wetsanded out pretty easy, it was just time consuming to wet sand the WHOLE car without cutting through into the paint. We didn't give the clear enough time to flash and we didn't have enough ventilation in the garage so thats basically why that happened.

and here's the car now. after wet sanding and 4 hours with a buffer. it looks amazing for a at home paint job and im happy with it seeing we only spent around 500$ on all the materials including the spray gun

i'll be getting some better pics during the day soon.

Looks pretty nice, what made you go with a red color Instead of having a SOM or metallic color??

Looks good! It's amazing what some wet sanding will do to the clear, just make sure to finish the buffing with a good swirl remover so you don't see swirl marks. Keep up the good work.

Looks real good. You could have filled in the holes on the front grille and it would've looked pretty badass

and the gun is a HVLP husky gun from home depot (cost like 80$). The tip is the one that came on the gun and the tank size is 20 gal and around 45PSI

Wow...

Having no auto body experience whatsoever, that came out great.

You might wanna give your pops a hug. This will definitely be a nice life long memory for the both of you.

just scuffed the existing paint/clear

the paint was 100$ a quart. and we bought 2 quarts.

the paint was 1 to 1 with the reducer(no hardner) so it made a gallon and we used about 3/4 of the paint. and we sprayed 3 coats of clear.

the color is a factory red, not camaro bright red but 2005+ corvette victory red.
