I have been trying to find some pictures of a black '98-'02 SS 4th gen with a flat black manta stripe. I just bought a factory ss hood for my '98 z28. I've been thinking about getting the manta stripe painted on in flat black. I saw the stripe in silver and red on a black car but never black/black. I want something different, but of course it has to look good. Some feedback would be appreciated as well as any pictures anyone can find.

I would assume you are going to have someone paint and blend the hood into your car so it matches. I have done it for customers. I will see if I can find a picture. If you want something unique do a ghost manta strip.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes I am going to have a body shop paint the entire front of the car to blend it. I was worried about the car looking unfinished with the satin black... but I think I like it after seeing the pics. Now I'm tossing around the idea of a satin black berger panel... hmmm decisions.

What? Are you serious? Consider the words, OP: "manta stripe," Flat black on black," "SS hood." And you have to ask if that'll look nice?! For God's SAKE MAN! OF COURSE IT'LL LOOK KILLER!!!

I have done Bergers in a lot of different ways. I think satin is the best and most accurate way to go, but like Swiat said ofcourse it will look good if done right. The only thing I would suggest is maybe pin striping it in a satin silver to bring it out a little. The colors do tend to have an unfinished look on the hood.

Good call! I haven't seen that yet, but a 1/8th inch red pin stripe would look killer too!

I have a black SS with a Red manta stripe..paint is fading so I'm going to cut n' polish the whole car and I was thinking of doing a Satin Black Manta Stripe...what do you guys think? I mean the clear coat on the Red is peeling off already lol.
