Default Complete paint job

I went to 3 different bodyshop and got 3 different price's on a complete paint job.

1. 1800.00
2. 2200.00
3. 4500.00 wow!!

Do bodyshops remove everything or just tell you they do?

Does anyone have picture's of this? I would like to see if bodyshops do paint stuff off the car. I just think it would get damaged going back together. Thank You for your help

You get what you pay for most of the time. I am a painter and i know if and when i do a complete paint job on my car i will want to take off what i can and do it right.

EDIT: I will say also about your question on whether they actually remove everything or not... a shop will more than likely not take everything off, but leave it on the car and say they did which you will end up paying for anyway. If i were you i would try to sit in while they paint my car

ya he is right, some hack shops out there will not remove parts, but the majority of shops do , 4500 is the norm for a decent paint job, and no us techs have been around for yrs and yrs and know how parts come off and go back on, sure some stuff breaks its gonna happen

insurance work pays us to remove everything!!! if iam doing side work i always remove everything its a habit now after all these yrs, labor is not cheap material is not cheap i worked for a shop that the price started at 10k and went up but you will win best paint at every show you go to

you pay 1800 your gonna get 1800 worth or work lol pay 4500 you car will look show ready everything comes off body work is straight paint is awesome so you do get what you pay for

You almost always get what you pay for. I'm probably never the cheapest when I quote a graphic design project, but the amount of work I do and respect I give toward doing a great job is definitely worth the extra money. The people who offer lowball prices 1/2 of 1/4 of my prices do a crappy job I usually end up having to fix.

Okay, you are in Worcester, Ma. So, how much for a total repaint of the Hummer and the Mercedes? The Hummer is currently Pewter and the Mercedes is black, but want to go to the Palladium Silver. Is there a finish that love bugs will not start to destroy after a few hours in the hot sun?

My paint job cost in the area of $10k. Everything was removed, the entire car was block sanded, antena shaved, and we used very high quality materials.

Granted I did work there so no, I did not pay that, but high quality paint jobs cost $10k + easily. Right after we did my car we painted a old Mach 1 mustang and the owner spend in the area of $11k I believe, but DAYMN did it look good.

Spraying the car isn't the expensive part, it's the body work and materials that get yah. I had over $1300 in materials alone.

You get what you pay for. My paint job was in the area of 4500 and I can't find anyone to paint my Iroc for close to that price. It's all in how the car is prepped. So while the 1800 may SEEM like a deal, it won't come out as good as the 4500 job. If they SAY they are going to do something, they had better do it or they can risk getting sued behind it. Make sure everything you want done is put in writing.

Mine was taken apart when it was painted, hatch removed, spolier removed, door panels, t-tops, mirrors, door handles. It could've been taken apart more, but it is what it is.
