i used the kirker automotive satin black (1 galloon is 55 bucks and you mix 3:1 with their activator which runs 20 bucks).
wet sanded the whole car with 320
removed 16 yaer old moldings and tried wet sanding but ended up having to use the DA which meant we had to use filler primer (8 bucks a can at napa).
did some rust work on bottom of the doors before the rear wheels (DA...bondo...filler primer)
filled in the rear side markers (subtle but OMG such a difference)--bondoglass, filler primer
had some scratches in the door that were gouged so more filler primer some glazing putty
the hood that i bought was nicked on the corners (the guys dropped it or something) so bondo-glass on those corners
painted the hood/wing/mirrors off the car...had the hvlp at 60 psi to spray...this paint is THICK
2 medium wet coats and bam...done.
stuff dries in a couple hours but it was 50 degrees out so it took a bit longer.
in the spring we are completely disassembeling the doors to get the jambs etc...too effin cold right now.
we shall see how quality this paint is...its going to see a nice chicago winter pretty soon.
thanks for the compliments :-)
fyi i like the blitz black car...not a big fan of the 98+ birds but doing stuff along those lines makes me like them more...i'm tired of seeing blingy birds!

wash/upkeep- dish soap and water. no polishes waxing buffing etc...
what do you mean by "does it mark"
and no the door jambs are red for the winter... this is my DD and my other car is in pieces for the most part. Until that car is driveable...the doors/interior won't be coming off this car.
or i might just keep it red...kinda looks cool with the red/black.

I appreciate all your comments and criticisms! :-) hopefully it'll keep people from being scared to do their own work on the cheap!
