Default Anyone had their 4thGen Convertible Painted? I Need info

I need to paint the rear decklid on my 02 convertible. It's fiberglass.

I understand that on hardtops(T-tops) Z/28-Trans Ams, the fiberglass sail panel that separates the rear hatch from the T-tops is a pain in the *** to paint because it's thin and when you sand it, it causes the glue underneath to delaminate thereby causing the piece to bubble and warp.

I'm not sure if the convertible rear decklid is glued together similar to the wrapover piece on T-top cars or if it's 1 piece, anyone have any experience with this?

I don't know. I'm thinking of doing the same soon.

I do think the roof panels were a problem with the glue, not necessarily tied to sanding/painting.

The rear deck lid/ trunk is bolted on and rest is just part of the body like fenders.

What area are you talking about exactly?

I'm wondering about the rear decklid itself. Is it 1 piece or several pieces laminated together to form the trunklid?

I wouldn't want the large flat top surface to delaminate from the bottom support piece, if that's how it's actually put together. Or, is the whole decklid 1 piece?

I'm in the middle east right now and want the work done while I'm away, but I don't want to be opening a can of worms while not there in person either.
