Default Repainting my 1993 Z28 **PICTURES**

Long story short, I bought this BACK from my friend. He destroyed it....

When I owned it....

2 years after I got it back from him....

You get the point....

Good thing I work at a bodyshop I had a co worker do all the body work, I did the preping, priming and painting.

Time for the roof!

Redid the tails:

All done just in time for the local board's meet and great

First "photoshoot"

First REAL photoshoot

Today I started on the door jambs and the core/radiator support.

19 years of a weather strip rubbing on the jamb...

Surface rust on core support

I hope you all enjoyed. Feel free to ask questions or have good or bad comments. I have pretty thick skin rocking out a purple camaro

I still have the passenger door jamb to do, the rear hatch jamb and i am planning on por 15 the undercarrige.

Thanks, I was on the wall of painting it black or not. Last second decision I decided to keep it body color.

Diamont/basf. I used 5300 clear and basf's waterbourn basecoat.

Nice work man. Congrats on bringing a car back to life. Just make sure you never let your friend get a hold of it again.

BTW, what process did you use on the bumpers and fenders? As in, after sanding them down and repairing all the scratches what did you do after that? Adhessive promotor/primer/sealer/base/clear???

Thanks everyone!

For the bumpers I didn't do any adhesion promoter. But the same steps you listed. The only issues i have had with bumpers chipping is true raw plastic bumpers from the factory. But adhesion promoter wouldnt of hurt.

I'm actually taking the steps to paint my car right now. The rear bumper looks to be raw plastic and the front bumper has some kind of primer on it. Would you recommend (just to be on the safe side) to just sand them down smooth with 320/800 then do adhessive promotor/sealer/base/clear or what would you recommend?

Easiest way to tell if it's raw plastic is scuff it in an area or sand it with some 600. Wipe it with a clean cloth and if it has anything on it, then it's primer. No need to use adhesion promoter. It it is real orange pealy, sand it with 600 (start with 320 if it's real bad) then seal/base/clear.

If it's raw, scuff with a gray scotch brite and 800 grit and promoter/seal/base/clear
