Default Wiper cowl and trim faded?

My wiper cowl I've noticed is a greyish color almost like its faded over time. Were these originally black? Also My trim (around the backglass and places) have something like water spots and seem somewhat faded. What causes this and is there any cure for it? I know the only cure for the wiper cowl would be painting it. Anyone done it?

ive seen them painted, but high gloss doesnt look right to me...maybe a satin finish is better if those products dont work.

Painted mine was trying to keep glossy look with back to black but finally sanded smooth and filled vent holes (made even amount on each side) and made nitrous/fuel gauge pod also removed screens and painted silver before reinstalling

Yes, these were originally a true black that was somewhat of a semi-gloss (not the high gloss of typical paint/clearcoats).

The window trim was changed to a less slick, matte black material about 1-2 months into the production of the '01 models. Prior to that, it was made from a slick, semi-gloss material that seems to hold up much better to weathering. The '01+ material is more sensitive to spotting and the elements.

There are some plastic/rubber/vinyl treatments (like 303 Aerospace) that will remove some of the spotting/staining from the window trim, if it's not already too dried out.

Is it possible to replace the trim. I'll get a semi gloss black paint for plastic and take care of the wiper cowl.

The cowl on my '04 F-150 was faded the same way. It was grey instead of black. I dusted my wipers and cowl with sharkhide metal protectant. out of a touch-up gun. It brought back OE shine and texture. It's been on for about a year and still looks good.

I PlastiDipped mine. Gives it that OEM plastic look, with a matte finish. Easy to do, and no issues in the past 6 months. After aidid it, tons of guys a twork started doing theirs too on all kinds of vehicles.

Black WOW is really good. I have used it in the past with good luck. It lasts longer and doesn't run after its rained on like other products I have used.

I did my wife's Avalanche with it a few weeks ago and was really happy with it.

All the trim on my car is faded to the point its grey. The trim going around the back glass, the plastic on the t tops, the wiper cowl. Its lost basically all its color and has spots all over it. I tried the mothers back to black and it did basically nothing for it. I'm probably to the point I'll have to scuff it up and paint it.
