Clear coat flaked off :p
I recently bought a 98 camaro painted dark blue, Im a ford guy but the price was too good to pass up.
Anyways the clear coat bubbled off the drivers side of the car, do i need to get it repainted or could i sand it down and just re-clear it?

I hope the car wins you over from the dark side : ) haha. Depends on what kind of state the paint is in, most of the times you can just reclear with no problem. Might as well try that before going for a repaint

Haha we shall see. The paint is in pretty decent condition-no scratches, or chips just the clear coat flaking off. Ill try wet sanding and reclearing it-thanks!

Body shop won't do it, well they might. But it'll look awful, and peel again sooner or later, Your options for peeling clear coat are basically deal with it or repaint the whole panel/car

Exactly!! This is fairly an easy fix, but to be done right the whole panel will have to be re-cleared and base shot back on it in the spots, if it is close to an adjacent panel, then most likely will have to blend onto that adjacent panel.. Since metallics are hard to butt match.

The clear is compromised and must be removed entirely on that panel, even the edges of the panel. It cannot be feathered. It's not possible to take off the clear without going through basecoat unless you don't mind spending 5 days straight, per panel, hand sanding the clear with 800, where you will still sand through a little anyway. Strip it, prime, and re-paint it. It's the only way.
