Default 5 years later Clear is peeling...

how do i stop or slow down the clear coat "flaking"?

she sits at the drive way 5 days a week.

it will look like absolute crap but you can sand down around the edges of the flaking clear till you get "solid" clear and primer the area (it will block anything from getting "under the edge" that causes flaking clear to spread, well it did on the Maaco job that was on the last car I owned before my bird. Another tip is DO NOT let a pressure washer near it, the T/A rear bumper I bought (that I need to have repainted) had a flaked spot the size of a small plate ontop and when the pressure washer at the car wash was done the entire flat top area (below the PONTIAC logo) had blown away, Which is nice because it's less to sand off.

yeah, i'll be doing some sanding then. my bumper seems to have the most "flaking" problem, followed by the hatch "spoiler", "front end" nose and roof. is it fine to just repray some clear over it? i'm not looking for a complete overhaul on the paint.
