Default Classic Industries - 1993-02 CAMARO/FIRBIRD REAR ROOF PANEL CAP

Has anyone seen this? I just received their new catalog and noticed this one says its a cap and is an easier install. Wondering if anyone has heard or used this one yet?

End paint adhesion problems on your Fourth Gen forever with a bolt-on roof panel cap from Classic Industries. Designed specifically for 1993-02 Firebird models, this panel mounts over the B-pillar and wraps around the roof, ending at the edge of the rear hatch panel. The bolt-on installation design eliminates the need to remove and replace your original panel saving both time and money. The cap installs with no glue needed, forever ending the paint adhesion problems that are caused by the factory glueattacking the paint from beneath the OE panel. An economical alternative to costly R&R of original panel. For use with or without t-tops. Urethane construction, paint to match your desired color.

A cap on top of the existing roof would elevate overall roof height. If you want the car to look correct, I don't see how this would work. And it's not much cheaper than buying a proper replacement panel, and you still have to paint it. So the only advantage is not having to remove the old roof, but the trade-off is that your roof will now be too tall.

Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Meh, I'd rather spend the extra $100-ish on the part, a little more labor, and have it done right and look right.

Not sure what research they put into this but the glue will come up through that urethane quick. We mentioned to Mike at RK about a CF cap and he said they tried it on Corvettes that had the same glue issues and caps out of fiberglass CF and urethane all still had the glue eat it.

I look at this piece the same way I look at those "caps" that fit over your upper dash pad to hide the factory cracked one. just won't look right and the costs savings just isn't there.

If you add a cap and it sits above the ttops you will also generate a pretty bad wind noise. Might be better off finding a donor roof. Got mine for 50$, repaired the minor fiberglass damage during removal and repainted for 150$ and installed it myself.

^^Damn that's cheap! We paid $300 at a yard for the hardtop when we needed one for the new mold. Actually, we also paid a guy $200 to cut the damn thing off since our batteries died in like 10 minutes lol!

Hey 6LITER ... would it be possible to make these panels more aerodynamic maybe adding some curve like to Vette or possibly a small air vent/ vents? Just a suggestion to add to the style of the TA

Any Ideas?
