Crack in door panel
Hey guys. Looks like I am ready to jump back into an Fbody. I am going to look at Firebird this weekend, but have a concern about the interior panels on the car. See the picture below. I am actually seeing this crack in the molding on a number of F-bodies. Is this a normal wear and tear issues...OR...is it an indication the door itself is warped, or needs some spot welding to bring it back in alignment?
Or, maybe it was cracked if they took the molding off to get at the window?
Thanks for your help.
In the upper right corner of the picture-the window sill molding is cracked in a straight line

There is a sticky in the Firebird section:
Cracked interior door panel...:( *DON'T QUOTE PICS!
It's a common issue on the later Firebird / Trans Am cars. There are some links and advice in that thread on how to fix it.

Any firebird with the monsoon radio with door tweeters will most likely have it. Extreme hot and cold weather tend to make it crack. Wear and tear isn't usually the culprit its GM's crap plastic on the 1998+ door panels. Putting the windows all the way down especially in the cold can make it crack easy too.

GM changed their supplier back in mid 1998, I know this is not everyones cup of tea, but I changed my interior to a different color (ebay, junkyards) and also got a set of pre 98 door panels with no cracks. but there is a person who repairs door panels, I believe his name is 97ramsst on ebay
