Default Is my local body shop right?

I own a red TA firehawk, 2002 model year. I took off the 2 headlight doors and brought them to the body shop for a make over.

I asked the 2 panels be stripped, prep'ed, painted and clear coated. I didn't think this would be a big deal because I had them do this before on a black Trans AM I had some time ago.

So basically they wont do it, said the paint will never match do to the fading of the car over the past 12 years.

I realize the fading issue, but im shock on what I was told. Though he did say if the car was there at their shop, they could blend it better than just doing the 2 panels blind.

Are they crazy or am I?

It is possible as red can have a tendency to lose some of it's brilliance as time passes. Black is a much easier color to match. Can you take the car to them so they can compare your panels versus the paint swatch of the factory color?

as a general rule if your going for color matched then you should ALWAYS have it blended while on the car.

I'll hold off for now, and tackle it correctly at a later time
