Default Is this my clear coat peeling?
I have my engine pulled for a 383 build and decided to clean up and paint my engine bay while everything was out. My bumper support looked really dirty, but the layer just peels right off and reveals a really nice painted surface.





What is this? It peeled off the top pretty easily and is stretchy (not brittle). It seems like some sort of coating.

Vinyl film. It is not clear coat.

Why is there vinyl film on the bumper support? What purpose would it serve???

That's weird to have that. Who would do that? Plus it's covered anyway by the bumper so it needs no protection

Definitely not a clear coat, that would chip off in small flakes, not peel as one piece.

Yep, and the clear coat would be clear. That stuff is way too thick and appears to be green in color.
