Default Which POR-15 for rear end?

Can someone with experience show me which por-15 I need for black (satin or gloss), and that is in a spray can?

There are so many options and I'm wanting to paint my new, but bare metal rear when it comes in.

I wouldn't use por-15 on anything, especially new metal. On my own car it was used and starting flaking off in sheets, and I have heard of numerous other instances of this happening, even when the metal is prepped to a tee. Don't know why there is so much hype about it. I would use something like a black epoxy primer.

I agree with above, use epoxy primer. Por-15 is for rusted metal, not clean metal.

Seem so hit and miss. I have personally used por-15 with great results on both rusty and clean metal. Following the directions is key.

Rust bullet is another product that is similar to por-15, but easier to apply.

Or like stated above, just paint it with regular stuff.

To answer your original question I painted my 18 yr. old LT1 rear end with satin followed by chassis black. Holding up just fine. For bare metal the other folks are correct in that por-15 may not work as well.

I've been using POR 15 for years with great success. I used the gloss, brush on for my 9". It still looks brand new.

I'm opting with gloss black epoxy paint instead of Por-15 since its clean bare metal.

I realize the last post here on this was a few months ago....but might be helpful info to someone else searching.

I was going to put POR over clean metal and a friend stopped me and said he used it on a freshly sandblasted frame and it just flaked off....sounds crazy, but apparently it's just meant for rusty metal.

POR-15 worked perfect for me. Followed the entire process, clean, prep, and paint.
