Default Rust underneath car, need help.

Removed my headers and a heat shield on the passenger side by the header and I found a spot of some rust. Wondering what my best bet is on fixing or delaying anymore rust from spreading or worsening. Rust underneath car, need help.-photo797.jpg thanks guys.

Take a wire brush to it on a grinder or drill to remove any loose rust, then use something like por 15, or Eastwood rust converter on it. Some type of rust converting primer anyhow.

POR is junk. Remove as much of the scale as possible and use VHT Rust Converter. The VHT sprays on clear and turns black where rust is. Than spray over with Eastwoods Rust encapsulator. I did mine about 5 years ago, still looks great !!

Agree that por15 is junk. I go about it a bit different. I remove as much scale as possible and then brush milestone acid on it and keep it wet until the pits are clean silver metal. Then the prep chemicle, primer, paint. I am currently doing this to. Y floors now before it gets any worse. Sections at a time.

What did you do for prepping it? Did you spray and scrub anything down before hand?

Any brand of wax and grease remover. Be sure you allow it to dry for 20 minutes before you paint.

I removed as much rust scale as possible with a wire brush attachment on a grinder or drill. I have both. Check out the reviews on Amazon about VHT rust converter. I was skeptical like anyone else would be. VHT sure worked well for me. If the rust was really bad I would recommend you cut it out.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm going to look at some of these products and hopefully order them soon. I degreased everything and took a wire brush and got some of the rust out, I'm going to sand it down some tomorrow

Eastwood is you friend for the rust department. Skip the auto parts store stuff. Chassis saver is a really good product too.
