Default Can you paint hood pins?

I am really not a fan of how hood pins look on 4th gen f-bodys, but I was looking into getting a pin-on hood for my car (trying to save as much weight as possible). Is it possible to paint the hood pins (or dzus fasteners) the same color as the hood? I realize that they will not blend in completely, but it would be nice to try and camouflage them a bit.

Has anyone ever done this, or seen it done? I tried a search but didn't find anything. Just wondering, thanks!

So I take it nobody has done it, or seen this done? Just out of curiosity, any reason why it couldn't be done?

You COULD but I wouldn't... The problem you run into is how quickly they'll chip because of releasing them. I've seen plenty of people do it and I wouldn't even bother, just get some nice chrome ones and you'll get used to it.

Other possibility is have them powdercoated the same or similar color. It would really depend on the color of your hood how well the powdercoat would match. For example, if you have a Bright Rally Red car, then chances are you could find a pretty close match to your paint. If, however, you have a HOK pearl paint job, then you're not going to find a close match in powdercoat.

Ya sure they will look good for the 1st week or so but as you continue to take the hood on and off the pins will start to chip and actually look rough bc of all the chips. Just my .02 is to just leave them chrome and i think personally they look good.

Hmm, good point about the chipping, I didn't think about that.

I would also look into the powdercoating, the have companies that will match the paint to your car. Just give them the paint code.
