Need more info. First off what color is the car? Got any pics?

Wool pad, Meguiars Diamond Cut compund, and some careful buffing wil help bring the paint back to life.

The paint needs to be buffed. This kind of fade is common. Diamond cut compound from Meguiars and a wool pad. Might want to find a reputable detail shop if you don't know what you are doing or do not have a buffer.

Good suggestion but I would make sure an expert does it if you're going that far to use a wool pad. A wool pad isn't recommended from a novice.

It looks like oxidation to me. I would try using a Porter Cable with Lake Country cutting pad (yellow) and a good polishing compound. I used Menzerna Intensive Polish last night on my car. My hood was heavily oxidized and it looked terrible... here is an example:

Now that is at night with the flash on so it looks worse than it really was. The better spot was after hand applying some Meguiar's clear coat scrub which helped but wasn't enough. I think it really just hid the oxidization.

I'm going to finish my detailing today and I will have some pictures. If I remember, I'll post a couple in here to show you the difference it made.

If I were you, I would pick up a Porter Cable from www.Tropi-Care.com (incredible sponsor here) and some other supplies like a waffle weave drying towel and some super plush polishing towels.

No clue what caused it. It was like that when I got it. The tops of my fenders and doors (right below the windows) have oxidation as well so I think it's just from the car being located in NJ before I bought it. I forgot to get pictures but if I remember on Sunday when I get home I will take some quick snaps for you.

my front and rear bumpers are a darker shade with than the rest of the car They have somewhat of a clear coat. I've wondered if wet sanding it would help but i've yet to try it. Any ideas?
