Default Superglue on Dashpad....?

I recently purchased a Performance Meter for my car...

The Performance Meter came with a "permanent mount" that you can use on your dash. Well...when fastening the mount system to my dash...the dash pad cracked. I ordered a new dash pad....and just got done installing it.

There are 3 ways I can mount the performance meter in my car, because screwing it to the dash pad is obviously a bad idea, as I previously found out.

The 3 ways are:

1) Stick it to windshield, using suction cup adapter it came with (ugly)
2) Velcro the mounting system to the dash pad (you wont see the velcro)
3) Superglue the mounting system to the dash pad

I really dont want to use the suction cup thing, cause that looks dumb as hell, so does anyone know if superglue has any adverse ( negative ) effects to the plastic on the dash pad? Will the superglue ( when exposed to the sun ) provoke the dash to crack?

Ive never been one to go supergluing things to my dash....but it seems like the only way...

Well, Its not really a circular gauge.

Its the G-Tech Pro RR. My brother got it for me for my birthday and it seems pretty cool....with the ability to display 0-60 times, 0-100, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, Horsepower, Torque, G's...and computer functionality too. So...it already comes with a mount.

The mount has a flat base...and the actual meter rests inside of a cradle, leaving me with only those 3 mounting options I listed.

I think im just gunna use a plastic bonder, and permanently bond the mounting stem to my dash pad. Velcro is too ghetto and the winshield suction cup thing is kinda lame looking.

I'll post pics when im done.

id say velcro .. the suction cups just look ugly and it would be a little hard to remove the guage if you use superglue .. with the velcro it has a strong enough hold to keep the guage from falling(unlike the suction cups) and the velcro adhesive could easily be remove with a little goo-gone if you ever decide to get ride of it

very true...

I think im gunna go with the velcro. It will be hidden from sight..and provide a strong hold, and I will be able to remove it later without ruining the dash.

Thanks for helping me decide.

Whatever you do, DO NOT superglue it to the dash. I'm not suggesting this coming from a durability standpoint, I'm suggesting it because if it gets old having it there, it'll be superglued to your dash. I used to have my Tazzo performance meter attached to my dash, and quite honestly, it got old. I hardly ever used it, and it just became an eyesore.

If you are going to attach it, I'd suggest using 3M posi-lock fasteners. The concept is like Velcro, but they snap together like a button making for a firm mount. Plus, you can remove them later if necessary (like I did).

You can find the posi-lock things cut up into little squares at Radio Shack.
