Default Couple of thoughts about Black on Black

I have a Black SS and I want to make it different... I have to ways I can go about doing it.

1. Have the whole care painted flat black (no clearcoat) and leave the Manta and Berger Panel black with clearcoat.

2. Leave the car black and paint the Manta and Berger flat black.

With all of this done I will be having my rims powercoated and the car will be lowered as well.

If anyone has pics of this please post them up.

Thanks

I think painting the manta and the berger flat black would look sick. When i get an SS hood, that is what i plan on doing.

Well you have to decide if you want a flat black accent or a flat black car. I vote accent because the flat may be tempting but after a while your going to miss the shine of your old black.

whatever you do clearcoat the car. most paint lines(i use standox) make a flattening agent for the clear so when you spray it on the color is will make it non glossy. this company called alsa makes a "flat cleat" specifically for their flat colors.

Thanks so my options now are for the Berger and the Manta..

1. Flat black no clear..
2. Pewter
3.Leave it alone and just powdercoat the rims.

The rims I want done.. But I dont know what to do... The car will be getting a drop very soon as well.

have you thought of semi-gloss. it stays alot darker than flat. a semi- gloss manta would look good.

Ya i jsut dont know what to do.. Lol... With the flat black idea... would mean 3 different colors of black on the car... But if i did pewter... I might be able to get the rims done also...

I jsut dont know too many choices...

I kinda liked the Pewter accent idea, honestly, tho I think a dark gunmetal metallic or a darker silver metallic would look better. I have a Pewter Firebird, and the fact that it looks more like a really dirty silver car is starting to turn me off. The dark silvers look cleaner and IMO I think it'll look WAY better with the black car. Also Powdercoat the rims to match that! My $.02. Swat

I can always have the rims painted the same color as the accent paint too... I may have to look into that.. Thanks Swat!

Go with the pewter color and don't go with the flat black on the car. Clear coat that sucker!

well i agree with most of this.. your gonna need some sort of shiny clear on there just to give it a classier look... not the "primer" look.... lol but just like the F-Bomb camaro done in one of the magazines a couple months ago... it turned out pretty good...
