Default SS Hood, Can they be repaired?

Just got back from Iraq to find that the SS Hood I ordered was damaged in shipping. The front of the hood, where it comes to a silgiht point is ground down, the sides are smashed, and both of the tips coming off the hood near the windshield, where it comes to a point, one is broken nearly off and the other is missing a small piece. Ill try to post pics later, but how hard is it to repair the stock SS Hoods? How pricey does it get?

I'd take it a claim up with the shipper before messing with trying to repair it.

It isn't that difficult to repair but like Sparky said I'd go with the shipper first before doing anything to the hood, good luck.

Well the situation is that I had the hood delivered about two months before I got home from Iraq(I got back two weeks ago) and I think I past the point at which I can file a claim. Im definetly going to try but I dont have very high hopes. Maybe they will cut a little slack because I just got home? I kinda doubt it!

fiberglass is usually something a lot of shops dont like messin with. Its hard to warranty if it isnt exactly right. If you r gonna try yourself, you better have an expert bodyman assisting you. Just my 2 cents. good luck.

I don't know how much damage your hood has but my dad just got his '99 Camaro SS back from a guy that does body work on the side and that included a quarter panel repair and fiberglass repair to the hood, spoiler and hatch. It was just the front passenger side corner on the hood but I was impressed by the work. You couldn't tell that the hood had ever been damaged. I don't know how much he charged for the hood but it certainly is possible.

Well If its Aftermarket its fiberglass and if its OEM its SMC. They are 2 different materials. HOWEVER both can be repaired. Depending on the damage shouldnt cost a whole lot either.

You shouldnt even have to do this since its not like you was even in the US when it was shipped. But I guess the dont care about that now do they.
