Default Lowest Trans Am in the World - Radical Thinkers Only!!

(You can skip to page 25 to see more recent posts)

OK guys, here is a concept photo of what I'm pretty sure I can actually build. This vehicle would be 35" tall top to bottom. If I lift it's ride height to say 4", then it would still be 1" shorter than the famed 60's Ford GT40.

I'll explain how it can be done if anyone wants to know. Right now, I just want to know what you guys think of the overall design. Is this badass or what?

Front end design:

In green are the parts that will be cut away.

For all the new people to this thread, I've made some alterations to the above design. Because I don't want to use a smaller diameter front tire, I'm going to take 3" less off the bottom of the car. So total height should be about 38". See post #294 and #300 for updated pics.

I like the side profile and the somewhat "ricer" front clip is pretty nice too, but the front end between the headlights is a little on the plain side. Would look better with a ws6 style hood as all trans am's and formulas do IMO...

I think the clean frontend makes sense. If you want the car to appear as low as possible, there's no point in having the ramair hood.

Also.. a little more into your front end idea.. what if you removed the center divider between the left and right corner lights? I think that would help out the smooth look. Not sure what you'd do for the lights, though...

Yes. I'll build a one piece lift off Carson top like a lot of 50's custom cars.

Another ricer comment? Why do people think that? I designed it to look more Ferarri-esque.
I prefer the stock hood as it's lower. I'm selling my Raptor hood.

that is not ******* ricer, that would take hours and hours of very hard work to accomplish and look good. ricer is putting a whistle in your exhaust so it sounds like you have a turbo (i actually saw that **** in person, i couldnt believe it)

I think the concept is excellent and not ricer at all - pulled off correctly it would be SEMA worthy!

Only things I would recommend: 1). mirror's seem out of scale - too big 2). lose the door handles, key hole and side lights 3). pull the side vents to have a longer sweeping look which would match the longer body 4). ZR1 rims in black chrome would be awesome!

Jason, remember when you started this thread about front bumper designs?
I think that this front bumper would go better (with the shaved openings) in
your overall look!

I think the B-pillar is angled too much in the picture. I plan to have the stock side glass cut down and the edge polished. There's lots of small variations you can do with the top, including a vertical rear window.

Yes, I remember, but I prefer the style I posted.

1. I think they are OK.
2. I do plan to remove the side markers. I don't know about the door handles and locks. They are already flush and come in handy should the battery go dead.
3. I like the side vents. The body just looks longer.
4. I love my chrome 19's. And yes, I plan to swap over to 14" rotors to fill them in.

sweet dude! yeah it doesn't look any bit ricer...the second pic looks very much inspired by the F430 i think. can't imagine how much work that whole project would take.

Regular shocks, but with air bags for springs. I'l have 6" of travel in the front and maybe a little more in the rear. It will sit flat on the ground when dropped as the floor will be completely flat.

I'll get another rolling chassis and cut out the floor similar to the attached pic.
