I understand that 2004 GTO's came with LS1 and 05-06 came with LS2. You wrote that yours it's a 2004.

Just to clarify, the 2004 GTO came with a LS6 block, LS6 intake manifold, Ls1 heads and an LS1 cam.

an ls6 is an ls1 with slightly bigger cam, 243 or 799 heads (same difference) and an ls6 intake. 04 GTO's came with ls1's, 241 heads, ls1 cam and ls6 intake

C5 Zo6's and CTS-V's are the only cars that truly came with an ls6, ask me how i know.

Ill stand by the many 2004 owners who have verified they have an LS6 block in their GTO by checking the casting numbers. There is a lot of confusion on this topic, and the only way to truly know is for me to verify with the casting number when its pulled from the car which I will do.

Either way, since this short block has no cam, intake or heads the differences would be nothing substantial. Casting number will be posted once its out.
