I just bought a 5.3 truck motor for my 96 Z28.
a. will this fit the 5.3?
b. will the truck pan be too low if I stay with it in my car?

Yes it will fit.

I was not positive about your second question but after some searching it looks like the 5.3 pan will not fit. Let me know if you want this one.
