Driver door (Pewter Camaro)
#4
I was driving on the highway south of Dallas at night in the right-hand lane next to a semi truck that was in the middle lane to my left. I must have been in his blind spot because he started moving on over to the right lane. The hole was carved by the lug nuts on the front wheel that stick out like a chariot. My window was down at the time, but I pulled away before it broke the glass. I was lucky the shoulder had enough room for me. He finally noticed me and we pulled off onto a frontage road.
The truck driver said he just thought he was on the rumble strip and tried pleading with me to not call it in because he was on probation for another incident he apparently had recently. He suggested he could mail me a check once he got back home
After a miniature panic attack, I called it in to the police. They asked if anyone was hurt. I told them "no", but described what happened. They felt it wasn't necessary to send anyone out. I guess Dallas had more important issues to deal with that night.
I took pictures and got his information and got quotes to repair the damage from body shops. Apparently the trucking company disagreed with the multiple body shop quotes I got. They offered me about $800 less.
I took it to my insurance company and they asked for the police report. Come to find out, no report ever got filed. Also, I didn't really want to have my premium go up at the time if I went through my insurance company.
I eventually took the trucking company's offer and used that money to swap in an 6.0 while continuing to rock the number 0 on my door
Getting tired of the breeze at my legs now though.
