Predator Worth it?

Predator Worth it?
I got a flyer on my car this weekend. It was from a company that is local to me. They say that they are having a sale on Predators. It says the normal price is $420, but if you call or e-mail them they will give you their special price. Just out of curiosity I called. They said that they would sell it to me for $375 plus tax. Do you think I should buy it?

Up to you, if you got a laptop and are into the tuning and tweaking thing i would wait and spend the 550 on edit. But if you have a few mods, up to HC and such and wanna easy to live with tune, try it out, I did. I like the predator for what it is. but i am now getting into the part of modding and racing that I need the extra flexibility that edit provides. Currently i have the mods in Sig and have run 175 shots, and the times posted using the predator to tune for nitrous.

I like mine, it seemed to be very good unit. You also get a multi scanner tool at the same time that will work on all the obdII cars(American). It made a hugh sop compared to the HPPIII that I used to own. ls1 edit is awsome if your good with a computer. Laptop, la1 edit and Atap, alittle exspensive for me but maybe worth it they sat.

Re: Predator Worth it?
If you intend the Predator to be your only
tuning tool, it is very important that whoever
you buy from will support you afterward. A big
part of my decision to buy, was recognizing that
the Predator tune can be modified and its user
capabilities upgraded. But the modification is
something that can only be done by people on the
inside, who feel like it. This does not include
every vendor out there, caveat emptor. For the
price difference of $20-$50, don't walk away from
the upside of real support, custom tunes and that
kind of thing - especially if you intend any real
hardware mods.
Probably inappropriate for me to shill for any
particular vendor, but if you ask around one
name will stand out for service.
I like mine and have used it quite a bit, the
"next level" of capability would be about a $900
outlay for ATAP and Edit and for my foreseen mods
the Predator was the better choice. The "pivot
point" in my opinion is headers & cam. Even here
you could get Predator to provide you a pretty
good tune (vendor depending), but figure if you
are going to put $2000 into the engine you will
probably want to invest corresponding money
and self-education in the full-spectrum tuning
capability of the software packages.

Re: Predator Worth it?
I have a Predator and have installed a TR224, LT's, ORY, !cats, !EGR, !AIR. DiabloSport did the custom tune for me and so far all is great in my world I am happy that I made the purchase and DiableSport has been quite helpfull. If I were planning on a dragstrip only car I believe Ls1Edit would be the way to go. My LTFT's are slightly negative and zero out at WOT. Gas milage went down the tubes, this could because I open it up a lot more now too All jokes aside the Predator is OK by me. Just be sure to buy from a place that will support the product and has experiance with custom tunes. I would do a search and see what other threads have info on the Predator. Happy motoring!

Predator is great for a mildly modded car .... as soon as you get into any type of major mods, like h/c, it will become a setback since it cannot perform that many features. At that time something like LS1 edit, or even a professional tune, would show much better results.
Therefore, if you're planning on major mods, just get edit ... if not, predator is fine.
As jimmy mention ... I purchased my predator under the impression that I would be receiving tunes from diablosport ... and they did a terrible job of support afterwards, which ultimately led to me returning it.
