Question Disable Traction Control

Is there any way to disable traction control through tuning? If so, how do I do it?

Yes but it is not the best way to go about that.

If you change the duration you will find it to be a better route.

You can change the duration it take to kick in and the duration it takes to kick out.

I will have my first HP Tuner setup next week. I am not sure how they do that. I know they can add it. I know the location in the bin.

Ask them to add the following to your file?? Mine is a VDF
"DESIRED TORQUE FAILURE LIMIT" this is the amount of time before it engages.

"TCS INTEGRAL DELAY" This is the time delay before it updates the system.
This should be small.

"TRACTION TORQUE AREA RAMP" This is the Ramp out rate for traction area when traction is no longer active. This should be small

"TRACTION RETARD MAX TIME" This is the Maximum traction event duration time. This should be small.

I bet I have missed the important one.

Those guys know what you want to do. Talk to them.

You want to be able to loose more traction before TCS kick in, You want to shorten the time that TCS is kick in, and You want to shorten the time that kick out or ramps out.

I watched Ron Fellows hunt down a Viper on worn out tire driving a CTS-V in a race. The way he was able to catch his was the TCS. It was almost like a real time system. The PCM and EBCM were working simultaneously.
No Delays

I drive CTS's almost every day and couldn't understand how that could system could be so different. You spin the tires in a CTS and it about stops the car. Researching and Talking to people I have found out how. If GM did it you can do it. HPT can help you.

On the F-bodies, traction control starts with the ABS, there is
a special "brain" for TCS under the dash and only a small bit of
the entire TCS activity is inside the PCM. You can "disable" it
by causing faults but you can't tune it out, only adjust the
spark control aspects. If you fault it offline you will have the
ASR OFF light.

I have replaced my throttle cables to bypass the TCS "gizmo"
and this has been fairly good, eliminates the throttle hassling,
keeps the spark pullback (which applies some part-throttle
control in marginal situations). Have not gone to the next step
of removing the "brain" and the "gizmo" and taping over the
light, yet.

On drive-by-wire cars you have a totally different scheme,
and there is traction control "stuff" scattered around in the
spark and the throttle / fueling control areas. This is easier
to modify / defeat by tuning. Have done it on a DBW truck,
but it's been a couple of years so don't remember where all
the things you want, are found. But they're pretty plain if
you go poke around.

Just pull the TCS fuse out. That's what I did. It shows TCS off on the dash as if it were turned off, but the cruise still works fine.
