Default current gen 7dfi users...

i will have this on the way shortly.. any quick and dirty on the hookup?

what do i need to be aware of as far as working with the stock computer and what can i hack off and throw away?

is there a users manual online anywhere so i can see what the layout is like ahead of time?

general comments on gen7dfi please thanks.

If anyone offers them I would suggest getting one of the plug and play piggyback harnesses - this way you don't have to mangle up your stock harness - plus it will make installation 10000x easier.

i have heard from joe overton that it is a really easy install.. just a 'few' hard wires to hook up and that the rest literally plugs in.. is it possible that the piggyback is included?

i have seen the car he put it on and it looks pretty easy to do. alsot easier than the piggy back lt1 harness. the gen7 dfi is harder to tune that some might think. you have to generate all of your tables more or less from scratch.

We have it as well.

You don't have to generate alot of your tables from scratch. There are a few tools in the software that will dig up the majority of the tables that you have to put in. Additionally, I'm sure you will be able to obtain a 'starter' file.

The system is very slick. A step above the other aftermarket computer systems that we are used to seeing.

dont get me wrong, it is very very nice.

but on the lt1 car that i helped with, the starter tune that it gave us didnt help too much. but the car that it went on, the combo was all wrong...way too big of a cam for a small motor and not enough stall or gear to keep the car at a rpm band where it wanted to run nice.

i will probably get one for my car sooner or later just because of all the features it has.

Here's a link to the user's manual.
Caution: it's a big file.

just read through the manual.. is it just my lack of 'skim and scan' skills or did all of that not really touch on this ls1 specific install.

i was looking for a wiring hookup for ls1's and an overview of the interface to the stock ecu components. also whats this about a fuel pump? im more confused than when i hadn't read it.

i imagine i'm missig the forest for the trees and just need to focous on the 'tuning' section of the manual?
