what is involved in swapping a 1995 PCM into a 1996?

Default what is involved in swapping a 1995 PCM into a 1996?

i know i need the PCM. do i need the Knock Sensors? what else would i need?

You can do it one of two ways.

A. Get a 95 PCM and a 95 Knock sensor and your good to go.

B. Get a 95 PCM and solder in a 3.9K Ohm resister. This way you can keep the 96 Knock sensor and have the option of switching back to the 96 PCM if you need to or if you ever fry the 95 during programing.

thanks for the info.

for some reason i am hesitant to go back to OBD1, are you able to do less tuning than OBD 2? are there any disadvantages?

No real disadvantage, just cheaper software to tune OBDI than the OBDII stuff. Thats the only reason i did it and to a few other friends car. Every car runs great!
