Today on my way on from work I noticed my temp got up to 245 so I pull over to see if the fans was on and neither of them was on. By the time I looked at the gauge again it was at 249 and I heard the fans kick on. Looked under the hood again and both the fans was on. They shut off at about 235 and then the temp rose to 250 before they came on again.

What could be wrong? The radiator is full. Seems really hot to me, is it going to hurt my engine?
