Can big cams set MAP sesor codes?
I have searched around and found some older post where some people thought that a large cam would set a p0106 MAP sensor performance code. Check out my thread from yesterday describing my problems and tell me what you think.

It is set by big cams at start-up. You have to alter the lower VE table to get the car to start properly and not set the code.

Re: Can big cams set MAP sesor codes?
I did. I just got Heads and a bigger cam. I have 3 error codes....P0106, P0530(took out A/C) and P0101. What concerns me most is the car is surging. That gets a little scary when I am trying to park it in a small garage. Does anyone have any idea why the car would be surging?

Check your IAC #'s while your idling and while you are in 1st trying to park etc. If your not getting enough air your motor will surge.
I like my IAC's at 50 in park/neutral, when you put the gar in gear it should raise to about 80. An easy fix for this if all your tuning is good is to enlarge the hole in your throttle body very little.
I was getting the P0106 MAP sensor code after my heads and cam install as well. I kept thinking I had an intake/vacuum leak. Checked everything for leaks and found none, I even replaced my MAP sensor with a new one. I gave up on it because my car was performing better than ever. After a couple weeks the code disappeared from the PCM on its own.
Good Luck,
Lee
