just bought z28 with hp tuners. will not read from car????

just bought z28 with hp tuners program.

GM Firebird/Camaro (V8) 1998

program will work but will not read from car. what will i need to do to make this work? on disk it has id# and ver 1.4.5
previous owner cant find any of the keys?

That's a pretty old version of software.

Check that the cig lighter fuse is not blown, the OBDII port
gets its power from that feed. If it "can't find" then this is a
likely bet. There should not be a hangup with scanning the
vehicle, whether you are properly licensed or not.

Older (serial) HPTuners hardware didn't use license keys,
the software (and any updates) were put out with the user's
licensure embedded in it. Speaking of updates, you ought to
get yourself "in the system" as the present owner of the
cable, and get the last update for serial hardware (?) as it
is past the end of active support, or will be soon.

just plugged in a scanner and it worked fine. i used a rs232 from usb to tuner i had same problem as cable previous owner had( the radio shack usb to serial was not vista comp) . i will go buy a usb to serial adapter that is made for vista

That version is roughly 5 years old & might not have even supported the older 98 LS1 pcm's. Update your software to the newest public version for starters.
