My electric unlock thing has been dead forever. Use the key everytime - as well as on many other vehicals where the electric unlock thing breaks. Never heard the VSS and Temp sens dying.

The key is the backup to the key FOB, to shut off the alarm. If the proper key is used to start and run the engine, that is the same as using the key FOB to turn off the alarm. Your Speedo and Temp not working has nothing to do with the alarm and how is was turned off. You have an electrical problem on your gauge cluster or sending units.

Did just the battery die on our Key fob? If it no longer works then I assume you have a much bigger wiring problem.

Above statement is correct. Key is secondary off for alarm- if you key open a locked car - you have 5 seconds to key in- I set my alarm off all the time and have to key in.
