i have seen some on ebay in the $3500ish range with
everything.
i also heard GM is changing their can\bus speed and the
tech2 will soon be replaced by laptop software and be obsolete.
that would drive the price down some when that happens.

Our shop bought a used tech 2 and candi module off ebay for around $2000. It has been great for all the gm cars we service. You can also buy the sps reprogramming dvds (last version before it went internet-based) and hardware key for around $400.

the new gm scan tool will be the MDI unit with GDS software and will only be used for 2010 and newer gm vehicles the 2010 camaro will be the first gm vehicle out that the tech 2 will not work on,, but you will still need a tech 2 for 2009 and older vehicles because gm has no plans to back-date the mdi software to work on any vehicles older than 2010 so shops will not be getting rid of their tech 2's

so i dont think the introduction of the mdi will have any effect on the price of tech 2's, i have both the tech 2 and mdi and am glad i got the mdi right away when they were $799, now they are going up every 6 months
