Default Diablo Tune (this is gonna sound crazy)

I turned my car the other day with my Diablo Tuner. I went with the canned tune and didn't modify any of it's parameters. I really couldn't tell much difference in the car even after about 100 miles and I haven't driven it far enough to check gas mileage yet.

Well when I was changing headlights the other day I had the battery disconnected overnight. Once I put it all back together it ran like crap for a little bit until it re-learned everything. I have about 50 miles on it since then and the car seems to run a lot better. Is it possible the tune didn't really kick in until I disconnected the battery? I know it sounds crazy and the answer should be no but I swear it feels waaaaay different.....wtf?

Only thing that should have changed after the battery disconnect is some of the adaptives will be reset, and once they are relearned it may feel like it 'woke' up.

So I'm not crazy? Explain adaptives? I know the tune didn't change but it seems like the way the car responds with the tune did definately change. If this is possible why is disconnecting the battery not listed as one of the tuning steps?

Before huh? This is interesting to me. I really dont understand quite exactly what takes place by doing this. And I'm curious as to whether it should be done before or after the tune and why either one would make a difference?

Like said, I know the tune is the same but the car sure does act different now.

The adaptives will eventually 'adapt' to the new tune, but disconnecting the battery does it quicker sometimes.

and the "adaptives" being your fuel trims, amount of air flow via the MAF sensor, etc etc...

in simple terms from what I understand its wiping its memory clean of the old fuel trims so it can relearn the new trims from scrach which in most case is faster then just adjusting to the new setup

That all makes sense. I would highly recommend that this be required as 1 of the programming steps. Before I wasn't all that impressed with the product because I didnt see an immediate change. I just tossed this mod into the "every little bit helps" category.

I think doing this would give your customers the instant gratification we are all looking for when we modify something.
