Default converter locking in 2nd & 3rd @ WOT...EFILive

we have set everything we can think of to keep it from locking...with NO luck!
ONLY way we can keep it from locking is thru the scanning software...manually overriding the solenoid...
locks and unlocks just fine when daily driving...

this started happening after the new, higher stall converter was installed...

any thoughts?
something we may be missing?

thanks in advance!

Try setting D1001,2 and D1004,5 to their max value (255 mph) all across.

Are you talking about locking @ WOT? There is a seperate table for WOT TCC lock & unlock until 2001. Many truck cals are set to lock @ 75 MPH when WOT. I don't see that table in either EFILive or HPTuners. You often can't feel it lock then with a stock converter.

pretty sure we had it set that way originally...
well...maybe not the release set to the same as apply, but...
it worked fine until the new converter was installed...

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see "@ WOT" in the OP's post, my mistake (slap me now)...

what I said has to do with PT only, so please disregard it.

When you log TCCMODE, TCCDC, TCCSLIP, can you determine that the PCM is commanding it locked during WOT...?

Can you post some logs...?

The only thing that changed is the converter...?

TCCMODE...yes
CURRENT GEAR is shown as well...

attached is a log of the first run of the day last Saturday...
we had made some changes and I ran it to see if it was still locking @ WOT...and it was...
the rest of the day I had to override it using the scanning software...

disregard a/f...it had been mistakenly set to show commanded instead of actual...and yes...I was lean all day

Yep, WOT TCC lock and release tables, you evidently don't have access to. GM stopped using them in 2001. Since 1987 GM has locked the TCC @ WOT, most 700R4 and 4L60E trucks locked WOT @ 75 MPH in 3rd & 4th.
The 4L80E trucks all lock @ WOT in 2nd gear also. If you have a straight binary copy of your file, email it to me and I'll fix it for you. Since you use EFILive, I kinda doubt you do.

I think that the PCM sees your MAF maxing out, and after delaying a moment, it then locks the TCC...

But I am not certain.

This is still not explained...

this started happening after the new, higher stall converter was installed...

well...I started thinking about that...
other than WOT tuning sessions on the street the first three track days after installing the 4L80e resulted in either water pump pulley being snatched off (twice), the P1SC taking a dump, or repeatedly hitting the rev limiter on both the 1-2 and 2-3...so...having said that...we probably wouldn't have known whether it was locking or not...I know for a fact that we weren't logging it...
the TCC in the first converter that I was running w/ the 4L80e went South shortly after that and I ordered the new converter...
We only started logging TCC MODE after the TCC went out on the first one...this info learned today may very well be the reason why though...
as far as I know...the 4L60e NEVER had this issue...
just spoke w/ cablebandit and he said that he can change those same tables said to be PT only and is able to lock and unlock his...and he is SD...
I'm totally confused now...

I wonder if it has anything to do with what the trans segment is copied from to swap in after the 4L80e install?

Nope. They all do that if the tuner doesn't fix it. Tunercat has that table.

Not in the Gen 3 cals. Only the older Vortec cals have it.

Maybe I added that to my TC definition files, I have added a lot of things to my TC definition files that no software you buy gives you access to. I'll have to look at a "stock" definition file to know for sure. If not, I'll forward the table locations to TC so it will be included.

But the cals most certainly do have WOT TCC tables, until 2001. 2001 and later do not. 1999 & 2000 4.8, 5.3 & 6.0L trucks, with the LS1 style boxes do.
