Tuning new AFM engines for mileage
Guys,
I mostly do EFI Live tuning for Duramax Diesels, but I have been playing with my buddies 08 sierra 5.3 with the AFM. So far i have changed some downshift points, some upshift points, the high octane timing tables, the P.E. tables and disabled alot of the torque management. These changes made the truck much more fu to drive and almost eliminated the "tip-in" lag that these engines have.
Has anyone else on here played with these engines much?
I have been getting alot of requests about increasing fuel mileage on these trucks. Obviously you can do alot to affect how and when the AFM is engaged, but I have not meesed with those tables yet.
If it were my truck i would just turn it completely off since it makes an aftermarket exhasut sound retarded when it goes fully into AFM.
