Default Tuning an 03 Z71 Tahoe

I recently bought my wife an 03 Z71 tahoe. It has had a cat system efficiency code since I bought it.

Has anyone else used EFI Live to eliminate the cats? any problems, improvements, etc.

I have been told that the cats on these trucks are very free flowing and that not much would be gained from ditching them.

For me the only reason I would do it is the $ since my wife doesn't let me drive it much anyways. I just don't want to buy new cats when I can just hack them out. Hopefully this would yield a slight improvement in mileage and power???

I would just turn off the P420/P430 codes and leave the hardware there, unless of course the vehicle has less than 80K miles and is stock, then I would make the dealer replace them. (federal emissions warranty 80K/8 years on those parts)

Yes that is the cheapest solution but I was just concerned about the potential for the catalytic element beginning to degrade and create unwanted backpressure.

What other mods are recommended on the L59 engine in this thing?
