Default EFILive V1 vs. V2

I'm looking at getting the EFILive V1 / LC-1 bundle from MPH for $649.

What am I missing by not getting the V2 version?

The V1 is a great deal if you only plan on tuning pre-06 vehicles. Even though it does have black box data logging; it's very limited compared to the V2 version. The V2 BB is much better and uses a SD card for memory. Hopefully soon they will have the Black Box flash tool available soon. If you want to tune 06-up vehicles you have to buy V2.

I'm a Vette guy and can't see investing in a C6 in near future. Too much $$$ to risk wrecking at the track. I got my Z06 for 15k and can walk away from that.

I'm a computer geek anyway so I would rather download to notebook rather then using a BB. 20 minutes for a session should be just fine.

So far from any of the forums I've looked into, the only drawback on the V1 is only having two inputs instead of 4 to pull data into the software.

With the tiny netbooks available now that weigh practically nothing, cost around $300 and run for hours on batteries IMO a netbook is actually better than the small handheld (V2).

I would bet that in a year or two the small 8 inch netbooks will have touch screens too. Save your money and get V1, install it on a small netbook, and wait for technology (touchscreens on netbooks) to catch up making the V1 practically the same as the V2.

Then V1 should work fine.

The V2 has more external sensor inputs and supports serial connection to WBO2.
BBF is on the way and there is no difference in logging quality between BBL and passthru.

GENIV and TCM support is also nice.

I have both... I like how V1 is much more compact compared to V2.

V2 has more features than V1:
- reads serial AFR from most popular widebands;
- 4x 5V analog inputs instead of just 2;
- two thermocouple inputs;
- two 2-state 12V switch inputs;
- black box logs (BBL) can be stored on SD memory cards so they can be huge;
- black box flashing (BBF) will be coming soon (still in progress, but don't buy just yet because of this);
- LCD display shows logged pids and other information;
- audible alarms (e.g. you can set thresholds on pids like ECT and KR, and when exceeded the audible beeper/buzzer sounds); and you can set certain LEDs to come on also;
- BBL mode can capture all the OBD-II information (e.g. DTC's and Mode $06);
- Displays English descriptions of DTC's;
- Covers CAN bus and ECM/TCM modules (later year/model vehicles).

V1 is:
- cheaper,
- simpler (has only one button: Start/Stop),
- smaller, easier to lug around,
- captures upto 23 minutes of logged data (short logs means easier/quicker viewing).

V1 is certainly more than adequate for the LS1/LS6 PCM.

As far as analog inputs go, you'll probably use 1 or 2 at most.

The V1 works great for me. It's all I would ever need.

When it finally comes out (after extensive testing) it will be a free update (all the software/firmware is free).

The developers have been and/or are working on this... but I do not know when it will be ready.
