Default air/fuel ration

I have been trying to figure out a safe air/fuel for my setup. I have hp tuners. I have not bought a wideband yet. I won't have the money for a few months. I know there is not an accurate way to set the air/fuel without one. I just don't want to lean out and damage something. I was looking at some tunes in the respritory and the numbers were crazy looking. Some for a 383 were less fuel then on my stock tune and a 408 was more, which is what I exspected. Any input will help thanks, my setup is stock bottom end dart 225s and 248/254 .615/.622 110lsa, wiend intake, 1 3/4-1 7/8 stepped edelbrock headers.

Not an easy way without a wideband. Even if you trust your narrowband O2's voltage, that will not really help.

I guess you could log your Trims..positive would mean your PCM 'senses' lean (>~14.63), but that is really not good enough.

You could at least log for knock, but trusting your narrowbands for anything other than 14.63 is not advised.

Good luck.

You spent all that money on the engine, now you are willing to take a chance of damaging it? Don't trust other peoples tunes. Get the wideband and do it right.

I'm going to go ahead and get a wideband now. I just have to figure out which to get.
