Question How much Knock does it take to go Lo-Octane?

So how much knock does it take for the PCM to get booted off the Hi-Octane and into the Lo-Octane?

Would it matter anymore if both tables are made identical?

Seems like I read it has to hear knock for 20 seconds before timing is pulled.

Timing will be "pulled" any time you have knock. Not sure what the criteria is for the PCM to default to the "low" table though?

As stated, Knock will always pull timing... I know that if there is a problem w/either knock sensor you will get dumped in the low octane tables (problem w/sensor or wiring)... not sure on other conditions

Why do you want to set both tables the same? (you can do it, that's what the HPP3 tuning does, and I've done it before on my car when I had a knock sensor wiring issue). Best is to prevent the car from going to the low octane tables... they're their to protect the car.. so best to leave them as is and figure out why youre getting knock...

Probably gonna sound stupid, but if you don't have a scanner or any other diagnostic tools, how do you know when your getting knock....if the timing has been pulled or which octane mode your in? I would assume ( and yes, I know what happens when I do that!) that you should be able to feel when these things are happening. Or hear it?
That seems reasonable for the knock ....and maybe the retarded timing. But can you really tell the differance between low/high octane mode changes vs oh....say a dirty air filter or some other problem?

scan the high/low octane scaler pid.

its 0-100%

0% = full low map
100% = full high map

It interpolates both maps.

at least thats what i logged.

KR can still pull timing, but the side effect is the high low scaler after wards.
