Ported ends vs. stocker for tuning?
I'm running a set of TR ported ends now and don't see them making any issues that IFR table scaling doesn' cover. Other than leaning the car out are there any issues caused by a set of ported ends. Why is stockers promoted so much for tuning. Thanks.

Stock MAF ends don't -need- tuning (GM did it). That
makes tuning deal with one less variable.
IFR may "cover" the MAF ends' effects (in a M6) but the
MAF frequency/flow calibration is specifically what the
ends changed, and the right place to hit that (to make
the other things that use MAF frequency for data be
trued up, not just mixture) would be the MAF scaling
table.
It's sometimes advised not to ouch the MAF tables as
a tuning method for mixture, but if the MAF hardware
is what you changed, then the table that corresponds
to that is proper.

Thanks. Would it be better to run the stock ends and correct the IFR table then put the ported ends back on and adjust with the MAF table? The reason I'm stuck on the ported ends is they look cleaner in the engine bay and I show the car. I don't mind taking a few extra steps to adjust it correctly.

Yes put the stock ones back on and don't touch the MAF table at all. Just stick with the stock MAF and adjust your IFR table in very small steps. Just remeber when adjusting the IFR table you are also changing the WOT fueling characteristics as well(PE). I picked up 15rwhp and 15rwtq on the dyno by just adjusting the PEvsRPM table only. And that was after adjusting my IFR table and getting it pen pointed down.
