Default Where does the power come from?

In the magazines and forums I've been reading it seems a good tune is worth about 25 hp. Even on a mostly stock engine. Learned on here these motors don't respond alot to advance timing, so most of the power is made with the air fuel ratio. Right? Does a tuner typically add fue or lean it out on a stockish tune? Thanks

it depends on the vehicle.

Some truck will run stoich at wot, those you add fuel to make power, other vehicles are rich from the factory and you need to remove fuel.

most ls1 cars do not get 25 hp from just a tune.

Normally leaning out the fueling and removing torque management on a stock tune net some seat of the pants dyno gains.

Even tho LSx engines don't really respond well to timing, you can still increase the timing and gain some power.

My stock LS2 was in the 20-21 range, now with the tune it's as high as 27, so clearly some power was made there. Add in better fueling at WOT and you can gain some 15rwhp from just a tune...idk if 25rwhp is realistic on a bone stock engine.
