Default What Laptop is everyone using for EDIT?

Just checking in on this, I got a Dell Inspiron 7500, 600 MGHZ, and wanted to see if anyone else was using this laptop. I heard many people had problems with the Ports and cables matching up and had to use adapters I wanted to know if anyone was using this laptop.

Thanx

The new HP's and Compaq's are available with serial ports. Not all models have the serial ports but most do. These are the only ones I have found that still have a standard serial port.

I use a dell inspiron 8100, 1Ghz. It's a tad overkill. I didn't plan on using the $3k laptop for car stuff, but it's steadily worked its way into the car.

I prefer the sony vaio. They are only 2lbs and dont get hot on your lap. I tune other cars using this one but i do have a inspiron p3-1ghz and a inspiron c-450 for other tasks like datalogging the wideband.

you guys ever built a obd-2 sniffer? they are fun

Default Don't buy a new machine...

for 100 bucks or less you can buy an older laptop and keep it dedicated to car stuff. I use IBM 133mhz thinkpads, they are dirt cheap and are good enough for car use.
